Making baskets from Tulip Poplar is an old Appalachian tradition dating back to this lands oldest inhabitants. According to tradition and years of experience, the bark slips best on the Full Moon in June. Class is scheduled around this timing!

You will leave with at least one fresh & functional tulip poplar basket - perfect for gathering berries, nuts, holding bouquets or even arrows. That’s right - bark quivers are a great addition to your bow hunting gear.

We will discuss the ecology of tulip poplar and end with a wild food snack that weaves the larger story of tulip poplar’s recent proliferation on the landscape into a thoughtful morsel of food.
