Know Your Roots: Japanese Knotweed Medicine Making

Know Your Roots: Japanese Knotweed Medicine Making

$50.00

Need a boost to your winter foraging and herbalism? Let's dive into the rootsy layers while plants lay dormant for Winter. In this class, we will be turning Japanese Knotweed (Reynoutria japonica) into potent medicine using the scientific ratio method. If you're not familiar already with knotweed's properties, it's the most recommended herb for treating Lyme disease. This is its biggest claim to fame but is also known for being the most resveratrol-rich plant on Earth. Resveratrol is the popular polyphenol found in red wine, grapes and chocolate which boasts heart, brain and blood boosting properties and its found in much higher concentrations in knotweed than anywhere else.

Many people have been coming to me recently wanting knotweed tincture to treat tick bites, an increasing concern in our region as Lyme continues to spread. This workshop will resource people with their own homemade Knotweed tincture as well as the skills and knowledge to continue making this for themselves and their community.

I began working with Knotweed in 2021 as a food and medicine and continue to discover more benefits and uses each year.

Even though it's one of the most invasive plants in the eastern US, it's here to stay and it's truly a powerhouse on many levels, so let's work with it.

We will be going through the entire process of making Knotweed tincture from fresh roots, start to finish, and each participant will go home with their own tincture and lots of fun info about Knotweed. You will end up with several ounces of finished tincture after a few weeks. The cost of buying this much tincture would typically be more than the entire cost of this class.

Cost: $50 (early bird rate)

Limited to 20 participants

Look forward to making medicine with y'all!
